2016 Awardee Jolie-Anne Ansley

Jolie Ansley2Keta Taylor Colby Award is presented to attorneys who provide outstanding representation to the poor and under-represented through their involvement in the Second Chance Legal Clinic, which addresses the civil consequences of the disproportionate representation of people of color and low-income affected by the criminal justice program.

WHY WE ARE HONORING HER

Jolie-Anne Ansley provided outstanding representation on behalf of a client who came to the Second Chance Legal Clinic seeking relief from a driver’s license suspension. The attorneys petitioned to have the civil assessment against the client dismissed in order to reinstate his license. When the petition was denied, they did not give up and persisted in their advocacy for the client, which eventually led to the reinstatement of his license. Throughout the process, they were relentless in pursuing the best possible outcome for their client at every turn, and tackled the difficult and often insanely bureaucratic traffic court procedures with exemplary tenacity.
